In the wake of Buhari's emergence as the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress which also double as the longstanding opposition of the sitting government of the Peoples Democratic Party as well as a popular critque of the charismatic Jonathanian movement, I considered it vital to highlight this factors that may militate against the smooth sail of Buhari and his avalanche of towncriers. 1. THE RUNNING MATE SAGA: lately the imbroglio revolving round the the choice of a deputy to wave the brooms and sing the jingo with General Muhammadu Buhari in the runoff to the Valentine election has metamorphous into an issue which if not handled with utmost meticulousness may puncture the progressive tyres of the APC. The Chieftains of the APC as well as the legions of Buharist that abound in the nocks and crannies of the social media would readily acknowledge that only a running mate that can complement the People's General in regards to Religion and Ethnicity will deliver the federal mandate into their waiting palms. Anything short of a christian southerner (preferably south west or south south) will ultimately spell doom to the hopes and aspiration of the much anticipated 'Change;'
While President Goodluck Jonathan has stuck his guns with Arch Namadi Sambo to walk him back to Aso Rock, Buhari and the APC bureaucrats are still locked in the mutual battle of selectionering. Whatever would take the progressives weeks to pick a running mate for a saleable GMB indictate an intrusion of the usual power play that was once a dominat factor the in camp of the much chastized PDP.
2: BLOOD OF DOGS AND BABOONs: “God willing, by 2015, something will happen. They either conduct a free and fair election or they go a very disgraceful way. “If what happened in 2011 (alleged rigging) should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.’’ -- Muhammadu Buhari. 14 May, 2012.
Save for a hand full of indiscrete utterance that has always reappeared to haunt his credibility as a prudent and considerate leader and not some loose dictator with an egoistic and brutal sense of power-lust, Buhari should naturally appeal to every willing Nigerian.
However, inrespective of the proverbial colouration or idiomatic interpretation the staunch jingoist of Buhari have given to overrule the literal understanding of Buhari's premonition or prophesy of Dogs and Babooms socked in bloods, they have all only proven to be a washout. Human being may forget your inactions but your words they will always unearth to screw you even after you are long gone to the grave.
Which ever way the tide may fair, I'm quite sure those Dogs and Baboons who will slit throats or whose throats will be slashed, whose heads will be clubed into pieces, who will pluck out the eyes and intestines of perceived antagonist and flood the street in tributries of blood and stench of evil all in the queat to oversee the ambitions of a man. These participants and victims; Dogs and Baboons I'm too sure would neither be families or allies of the People's General.
3: DINNIND WITH THE DEVIL: In today's Nigeria people often than not overstretches their boundaries and at long last go beyond their line of doctrines and principle in the battle to obtain or retain what in their imagination or reality is their birthright.
General Muhammadu Buhari having lost several mandates through the years have being able to sustain his personality as a man that has zero tolerance for indiscipline and corruption. From ANPP he lauched his own party the CPC while in those circles he only progress beyond an unchallenge, automatic presidential nomination.
Today in a despirate move to unseat what Prof Soyinka described as King Nebuchadnezzar, Buhari has gone into a coalation that constitute a league of ACN dictators and a fraction of corrupt PDP decampies. The People's General stands unqually yoked with these politrickers in terms of discipline and prudency, but that he would rather pitch tent with the devil if that would guarantee him a leeway to Aso Rock is another food for thought.
